Engine Coolant Supplier for South America

Three climates on one continent — Andean altitude that eats your boiling margin, a southern cone that genuinely freezes, and a coastal belt that does neither.

South America is not one specification. Bogotá sits at 2,640 m and Quito at 2,850 m, where water boils at roughly 91 °C and 90 °C before the pressure cap does anything. Santos, Callao and Buenos Aires are at sea level and never approach freezing. Then the southern cone reverses the question: Patagonia and southern Chile run genuine sub-zero winters. A distributor who stocks one grade for the whole continent is either over-spending in the tropics or under-protecting in the south.

Which grade for which altitude

Boiling point falls about 1 °C per 300 m of altitude. Figures below are atmospheric, before a pressure cap adds roughly 20–25 °C back into the system — which is why a coolant that is comfortable in Santos can be marginal climbing out of Bogotá with a loaded truck.

ZoneAltitudeWhat fails hereGrade to specify
Santos, Rio, Buenos Aires & the coastSea levelHot and humid; corrosion and boil-over, no frost0 °C
São Paulo, Curitiba & the Brazilian highlands760–950 mCooler plateau; light winter frost in sheltered areas0 °C, or −25 °C for southern resale
Bogotá & Quito, Andean plateau2,640–2,850 mBoiling point ≈ 90–91 °C — margin is the constraint0 °C, high boil-over

What is on the road

  • Toyota Hilux and Land Cruiser across the Andean markets — the default working vehicle
  • Brazilian flex-fuel passenger cars, which typically run a higher compression ratio than the petrol-only version of the same engine and reject more heat per litre
  • European and Mercosur-assembled cars specifying OAT chemistry from the factory
  • Heavy trucks on the Andean corridors, where a loaded climb is a sustained full-load heat event

Shipping and loading

Loading port
Guangzhou / Shenzhen, China
Destination
Santos and Paranaguá (Brazil), Callao (Peru), Buenaventura (Colombia), San Antonio / Valparaíso (Chile)
Container plans
20GP and 40HQ loading plans issued before you commit
Lead time
15–25 days after deposit, plus 30–40 days transit

Documents and clearance

  • SDS in the 16-section GHS format for every formulation
  • Certificate of analysis per batch — freeze point, boil point, pH, reserve alkalinity
  • Certificate of Origin for preferential duty treatment
  • Product data aligned to the standard your buyer cites — NBR in Brazil, IRAM in Argentina, INN in Chile

Buyers here usually reference a national standard rather than one regional certificate, and the requirement differs by country. Tell us which standard your buyer cites and we confirm what test data we hold for that formulation before you book the container. We do not claim compliance marks we have not tested to.

Common questions

Which grade should we stock for Brazil?›

0 °C covers the north, the northeast and the whole coast. The south — Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul — sees light winter frost in sheltered areas, so a −25 °C grade is the safer shelf item if you sell there. One grade cannot serve both ends well.

Do Peru or Colombia need freeze protection?›

No. Lima and the coast never approach 0 °C, and the Andean cities fail in the opposite direction: at 2,640–2,850 m the system has already lost close to 9 °C of boiling margin before the engine is under load. What those markets need is boil-over headroom, not glycol.

What is the minimum order?›

Retail-ready cartons: 1,200 × 2 L bottles (100 cartons), 600 × 4 L jugs, or 400 × 5 L drums. Bulk drums: 100 units. Mixed containers combining coolant with brake fluid or washer fluid are accepted.

Can you print Spanish or Portuguese labelling?›

Yes. Private label runs on every coolant SKU — your artwork, your carton, your language. We supply the batch test data so the product arrives documented rather than as an unlabelled drum.
